Sam Smith Comes Out as 'Gender-Fluid' and Introduces His Female Ego 'Karamel'

Sam Smith is the latest musician to pull back the curtain on his life for Apple Music — and he’s introducing the world to his female alter ego “Karamel.” Sam Smith says he is 'gender-fluid' while many social media users are calling him 'mentally ill.'

“What people don’t know is Karamel’s actually sold 24 million records in America from her first album, Karamel with a K,” Smith joked in a clip of the documentary.

On Sunday, Smith opened up his gender identity and revealed he doesn’t consider himself a cisgender man.

“I don’t know what the title would be, but I feel just as much woman as I am man,” he told the U.K. Sunday Times.

He also revealed that he likes dressing in drag and shopping at the famed House of Priscilla whenever he’s in Sydney, Australia.
