University of Alberta Professor Says Terrorism Caused By ‘White Supremacy’
A University of Alberta (U of A) professor suggested on Twitter that terrorist attacks like last weekend’s in Edmonton, are was motivated by “white supremacy.” Dr. Erin Weinberg tweeted, “A lone wolf attacker is not a religion. Never forget that white supremacy is the insidious force that breeds terrorist responses.”
Somali refugee Abdulahi Sharif is accused of repeatedly stabbing an Edmonton police officer and driving into four pedestrians while he tried to elude arrest in a high-speed car chase through the downtown streets of the city.
Sharif has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, dangerous driving and possession of a weapon. Even though the action was described by police and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a terrorist incident, Sharif has not been charged with terrorism.
Weinberg’s tweet was retweeted by University of Toronto professor Jordan Peterson, a noted free speech advocate and critic of gender neutral language.
He received a raft of responses, including this one: “The left is obsessed with white people. Everything comes back to white people.”
