Liberal Minister Catherine McKenna Demands Rebel Reporter's Outlet Stop Calling Her 'Climate Barbie'
Environment Minister Catherine McKenna was visibly upset when a Rebel Media reporter asked a question at the closing news conference of the environment ministers' meeting in Vancouver on Friday demanding his organization stop calling her a "climate Barbie."
The exchange began when Rebel Media's B.C. bureau chief Christopher Wilson asked the minister what she thought the role was for hydro electricity in the province. A reasonable question to ask.
McKenna neglected to answer the question immediately but instead said "So you're the Rebel Media that happens to call me climate Barbie, I certainly hope that you will no longer use that hashtag," She also added that she has children and women want to get into politics as reasons why The Rebel should stop using the term.
It went downhill from there. Probably not the smartest move on McKenna's part. By making such a big deal out of the 'Climate Barbie' name, she's most likely only going to see a lot more of the name.
