3 People Dead Following Violent Night in the GTA

Toronto Police say one man is dead and another is injured after a double shooting in Scarborough.

Officers were called to a home on Alford Crescent, near Morningside and Sheppard, just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

When they arrived at the scene, they found two men with gunshot wounds.

One man died in hospital. He has been identified as 30-year-old Rudolph Augustus Tyrell of Toronto. The other man - believed to be in his 20's - was treated for his injuries in hospital.

According to a release put out Sunday afternoon, police are searching for a male suspect who was last spotted wearing a black hoodie, with a black shirt, baseball cap and black pants.

Meantime, Peel Regional Police now say there may be a connection between two separate overnight shootings in Brampton that left two people dead and a woman fighting for her life in hospital.

Police say the shootings happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Investigators say in the first just before 12:45 a.m., a 27-year-old Brampton man and a woman in her 20's were shot in the Vodden and Kennedy area.

The man, now identified as Clifford Correia, died of his injuries in hospital.

Nearly six hours later, just after 6:30 a.m., officers were called to Townley Crescent where they found a badly injured 33-year-old Georgetown man.

The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, has been identified as Derrick McKeown.

"It's not just something that somebody's out there doing random things," she added.

However, she says the relationship between the two shootings hasn't been determined.

As for the distance between the two crime scenes, "you're looking at anywhere from five to 10 minutes," Marttini said.
