Fox News Preparing to Cut Ties With Bill O'Reilly Amid Sexual Harassment Scandal - Report
Fox News is preparing to sever ties with Bill O'Reilly amidst a sexual harassment scandal, according to a report late Tuesday.
O'Reilly and Fox have been under fire since a New York Times report came out on April 1 detailing the $13 million in undisclosed settlements made to five women who worked on or made appearances on the program.
21st Century Fox originally stood by O'Reilly as he denied the allegations, claiming the settlements were paid to avoid "controversies" and to shield his children. However, O'Reilly has not been on the air since April 11.
O'Reilly's attorney told the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday that the host has "been subjected to a brutal campaign of character assassination that is unprecedented in post-McCarthyist America" and added that "evidence that the smear campaign is being orchestrated by far-left organizations bent on destroying O'Reilly and Fox News and for political and financial reasons."
